Music Technology

As technology has advanced, so too has the capabilities of computer based recording systems. Most musicians now have access to software/hardware that allows their home computer to act as a virtual studio, bringing with it tools and options previously only available to professional engineers.Sound Hertz Recording Studio

However learning how to use your equipment like the professionals is another matter! I can help you to make the best of your home recording set-up.

I have been teaching A Level Music Technology (EDEXCEL) in colleges and secondary schools since 2006.

During this time I have put together a comprehensive programme of lesson plans which enable students to learn about the subject in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

I have found that these lesson plans also translate well into providing private tuition in music technology and sound engineering.

Topics of study include

  • MIDI Sequencing
  • Recording Techniques
  • Mixing Techniques
  • Production Techniques
  • Mastering Techniques
  • Acoustic treatment
  • Setting up a home recording studio/environment
  • Understanding technology (mixers, microphones, computers, etc)
  • Making the most of the equipment
  • Logic Pro
  • Live sound (includes setting-up and use of public address systems)

Tuition can be conducted from my home studio, your recording environment or on location (live sound).
